A Minimal Animal is a sculptural book with a link stitch binding (Rives BFK paper). It was a meditative exercise in minimalism and zoomorphic book design. I wanted to make a very long book and that's what I did. You can't see it in these photos, but there is a hole punched in the middle of every page. This was done to give the book content, which is a hollow tube that runs invisibly throughout the book like an internal organ. The front and back covers are painted pieces of copper cut from an etched plate that I had previously used for intaglio printing. There is one black signature to break up the monotony of the book. It is the climax of the story.
